Reiling Dredge - Autumn

Reiling Dredge — Autumn

French Gulch, Breckenridge, Colorado

Surrounded by the brilliant gold of Colorado’s autumn aspens, the weathered remains of the Reiling Gold Dredge stand as a reminder of Breckenridge’s mining past. Built in the early 20th century to work the gold-rich gravels of French Gulch, the massive wooden dredge once moved thousands of yards of earth in search of gold.

More than a century later, nature has reclaimed much of the landscape around it. The aging structure, autumn color, and scars of the old mining ground create a striking contrast between Colorado’s industrial history and the wild mountain landscape that remains.
